QCFC Supports Jason Tan Liwag’s Participation in the 2025 Locarno Critics Academy
Quezon City, Philippines — The Quezon City Film Commission (QCFC) extends its support for Jason Tan Liwag in his upcoming participation at the 2025 Locarno Critics Academy, which is being held during the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
Liwag currently serves as the Head of Short Film Programming and is the Founder of the QCinema Critics Lab at the QCinema International Film Festival (QCIFF). His dedication to QCinema’s mission of pioneering progressive, diverse, and artist-driven Filipino storytelling on a global stage is all the more evident in his role as a short film programmer, forging international collaborations with festivals such as Jakarta Film Week and the Busan Inter-City Film Festival.
His crucial role to the commission’s very own projects, notably serving as a moderator for the Young Creatives Challenge Season 2 (YC2) Film Lab Masterclasses, further cements his role as a key advocate for the local film community, especially for emerging filmmakers like him.
Liwag’s selection to the Locarno Critics Academy for young and talented writers marks not only a significant personal achievement but also a milestone for Quezon City’s creative and cultural sector.
QCFC wishes for his continued success in his ten days of participation in the Locarno Critics Academy, and we trust that he will continue to bring pride and inspiration to Quezon City and the Philippines. We respectfully request all relevant offices and individuals to extend their full courtesies and assistance to Mr. Liwag in this matter.
