Quezon City meets with FDCP, MMFF, and QCinema to Strengthen Partnerships for UNESCO Film City Designation

Quezon City, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte recently met with key leaders of the Philippine film industry, including Director Joey Reyes, Chairperson and CEO of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), and Manuel Noel Ferrer, spokesperson of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
The meeting focused on exploring collaborative initiatives aimed at further strengthening the local film industry in Quezon City, which is proudly recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Film, and developing linkages between FDCP, MMFF, and the Quezon City Film Commission.
Mayor Joy underscored the importance of this new collaboration, stating, “I am so thrilled and ecstatic that the FDCP is going to be our partner towards developing the film industry, promoting the rights and welfare of the workers and training new filmmakers to be the best that they can be in a field that I believe the country should be excelling in in the global stage.”
In an online statement, Quezon City Film Commission (QCFC) Executive Director Liza Diño expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership. “Excited for the collaboration between Quezon City and FDCP, especially with UNESCO’s designation of QC as the country’s Creative City of Film. This partnership can really help strengthen and grow QC’s film ecosystem with the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.”
Also present at the meeting were QC Tourism Department Officer-in-Charge Giana Barata and QCinema Artistic Director Ed Lejano, highlighting the city’s continued commitment to fostering creative partnerships and supporting filmmakers through sustainable programs and platforms.
Through these collaborative efforts, Quezon City continues to strengthen its position as a dynamic hub for cinematic excellence and innovation, further affirming its role as a UNESCO Creative City of Film.
